Township Manager Dave Burman said while there has been concern at the staff level that it may not be possible to conduct a safe and successful Haverford Township Day, no final decision has been made. “Everyone who makes the argument that by October the vaccines will have been given to everyone, please explain your plan to insure everyone attending the event has received it and shows that antibodies are still present, taking into account that a booster will most likely be needed for continued immunity.” “So many look forward to the event each year, but the importance of keeping everyone safe during these very difficult and challenging times must be a priority,” said the statement. On Monday, organizers on the volunteer committee posted a cancellation on the event’s Facebook page. The popular day-long event, traditionally held in early October, includes a parade and day-long activities such as music, food, rides and crafts, and brings out as many 30,000 visitors. The 2021 Haverford Township Community Day may be cancelled for the second time because of issues from the COVID-19 pandemic.
